The "Jinhua Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan (2021-35)", the latest plan to protect the city's historic urban area, has been approved by the provincial government, according to local media outlets.
The new round of protection planning expands the scope of Jinhua's historic urban area from 1.95 square kilometers to 2.85 square kilometers and includes the original site of the moat that has disappeared and the Sanjiang Estuary of Wujiang and delimits the specific scope for the first time.
Since being listed as a national historical and cultural city by the State Council in 2007, Jinhua has prioritized the protection, rational use, and innovative development of the area.
In order to better adapt to the current protection situation, Jinhua has compiled a new protection plan consisting of the city area, urban area, historical urban area, historical and cultural blocks and features, cultural relics and intangible cultural heritage items.

According to the new plan, the specific scope of Jinhua's historic urban area is as follows: north to the curb line on the north side of East Renmin road; east to the east bank of Tongyuan Creek and Jingxiao street; south to the south bank of Wuyi River; and west to Tongji Bridge and North Bayi street.
Officials said that the expansion of the core area of Jinhua's famous historical and cultural area has helped improve the overall protection of the ancient city site and better showcases Jinhua's ancient city of mountains and rivers.
