The China-Tanzania Business Investment Forum was held simultaneously in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on Dec 16.
The forum was attended by government officials from Tanzania and Jinhua, as well as over 50 enterprises both onsite and offline.
Tanzania is one of Jinhua's most important partners. As early as 2013, Jinhua agreed to carry out friendly exchanges with Dar es Salaam. The two sides have achieved remarkable results in cultural, economic and trade exchanges, exhibitions and project cooperation.
In 2021, Jinhua exported goods worth 5.68 billion yuan ($815.79 million) to Tanzania and imported 40 million yuan in goods from the country. From January to October this year, Jinhua's exports to Tanzania increased by 6.6 percent year-on-year to 4.83 billion yuan, while imports surged 348.9 percent yearly to 130 million yuan.
Daily household products, clothing and textiles, hardware tools, copper and aluminum materials, and seafood are the main goods traded between the two cities.
Jinhua has hosted a series of trade forums to discuss further business cooperation with Tanzania during the 2022 China (Zhejiang) Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade Relations and China-Africa Cultural Cooperation Exchange Week.
In the next week, more than 300 high-quality foreign trade enterprises in Jinhua will carry out matchmaking online with nearly 300 large- and medium-sized enterprises in Tanzania mainly involved in auto parts, clothing and shoes, cultural and educational supplies, agricultural tools, and electronic equipment.
