The Zhejiang-Tanzania Trade and Investment Development Exchange Conference was held in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, both onsite and online on Nov 4.

The event, sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee, was part of the 2022 China (Zhejiang) Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade Relation and China-Africa Cultural Cooperation Exchange Week.

The conference aimed to promote pragmatic cooperation between Zhejiang and Tanzania in various fields, create more opportunities for enterprises in the two places, and help China-Africa cooperation achieve long-term mutual benefits and common development.

The onsite event attracted over 30 Africa-related enterprises in Zhejiang province, while nearly 160 Africa-related institutions and enterprises at home and abroad participated in the event online.

Jinhua and Tanzania have achieved remarkable results in cultural, economic and trade exchanges, exhibitions and project cooperation, according to Ruan Ganghui, deputy mayor of Jinhua.

From January to August this year, Jinhua exported 3.67 billion yuan ($506.85 million) worth of goods to Tanzania, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent. The city imported 110 million yuan in goods from Tanzania, surging 503 percent yearly.

Ruan hopes that the two sides will continue to consolidate their economic and trade achievements, expand areas of cooperation, strengthen non-governmental exchanges, and promote exchanges and cooperation between Jinhua and Tanzania.

The "Digital China-Africa" platform was officially launched during the event. The platform is expected to bring together a wide range of international resources and provide one-stop intelligent platform services around core functions such as information, supply and demand docking, commercial mediation, procurement and investment, index analysis, and cultural exchanges. It aims to provide smoother and more efficient services for China-Africa cooperation.
