The Jinhua Radio and Television University was renamed Jinhua Open University on Sept 1 to better help the city's people learn for life and build a society of learning.
School leaders said that the establishment of Jinhua Open University is the start of a new journey.
The Jinhua Radio and Television University was established in February 1979. It was formerly known as the Jinhua Branch of Zhejiang Radio and Television University and changed its name to Jinhua Radio and Television University in December 1996.
The university currently has three campuses located on Qingzhao Road, Fuyuan Road and East Renmin Road, respectively, covering an area of 166,000 square meters and a construction area of 139,000 square meters in total.
The university is committed to exploring an open-school operational model with Chinese characteristics and meeting society's needs for lifetime study. So far, it has trained more than 80,000 junior college and undergraduate students in various majors. It also enrolls more than 2,300 people for elderly education annually, aiming to meet the need for individualized, diversified and lifelong learning.
