In the northwest corner of the Jinhua Sports Center - one of the Hangzhou Asian Games venues in Jinhua – a brand new automatic weather station has been put into use recently.

It collects information about temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind direction, wind speed and other weather data and evaluates the climate and weather conditions of the competition area according to meteorological data.

The weather station site is capable of monitoring data down to the minute, which can be analyzed collaboratively with upstream and downstream weather stations to improve severe weather predictions, especially in the vicinity of the stadiums.

With these data, the organization committee will be able to arrange each game at the most suitable time so that athletes can give optimal performances, according to officials.

Jinhua has built six such weather stations for the 19th Asian Games at venues such as the Jinhua Sports Center, Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua Satellite Village and multiple training venues, aiming to form a more sophisticated weather observation network with the original stations.

The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will run from Sept 10-25 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province. As one of several co-host cities for the Asian Games, Jinhua will host a number of sepaktakraw and football matches.
