Wuyi, a mountainous county administered by Jinhua city, East China's Zhejiang province, saw the output value of its above-designated-size industrial companies (those with annual operating revenues of about $3 million or more) rise 33 percent year-on-year to 70.28 billion yuan ($11.06 billion) in 2021.

Shuai Chaohui, Party secretary of Wuyi county, attributes the rise of the industrial economy in Wuyi to its substantial improvements in multiple production factors such as talent, technology, and land over the past year.

Last year, the county government helped local enterprises connect with 256 scientists, who solved more than 100 technical problems in their production processes.

The government has awarded technical qualifications to 2,656 skilled workers in order to raise the morale of the blue-collar workforce.

The total R&D expenses of Wuyi's above-designated-size industrial companies surged 51.8 percent year on year to 1.843 billion yuan ($289.72 million).

To raise the efficiency of land utilization among manufacturers, Wuyi authorities have rolled out a series of measures to enhance approval, assessment, and exit mechanisms for land use. As a result, the tax revenue collected from each mu (666 square meters) of land used by above-designated-size industrial companies reached 158,000 yuan in 2021, up 14.1 percent from the previous year.
