Yiwu makes gains in online retail sales

The online retail sales of Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, reached 185.62 billion yuan ($29.09 billion) from January to November this year, a year-on-year increase of 10.8 percent and ranking first in the province for the 11th consecutive month, according to data released by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province.

Online retail sales refer to retail sales of goods or services realized by enterprises through public online trading platforms, including self-built websites and third-party platforms.

In recent years, Yiwu has been ramping up efforts to promote the development of e-commerce by fostering e-commerce towns and specialized villages as well as a national comprehensive trial area for cross-border e-commerce.

Yiwu is among the most developed e-commerce industries in China. In 2020, its e-commerce transactions were valued at 312.487 billion yuan, 12 times higher than 10 years ago.

Next, Yiwu will work to make more than 500 billion yuan in online sailes and build a global e-commerce innovation and entrepreneurship center, a global e-commerce live broadcast economic center, and a global small commodity digital supply chain center.
