Zhejiang Hongshi Group in Lanxi, a county-level city administered by Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, had supplied cement for the construction of the China-Laos Railway in Laos, which officially began service on Dec 3.

The China-Laos Railway spans 1,035 kilometers and has a designed speed of 200 km per hour, linking Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province, with Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

A total of 600,000 metric tons of cement had been supplied by Hongshi Group for the construction of the China-Laos Railway.

In response to the Belt and Road Initiative, Hongshi Group invested $300 million to build a new dry-process cement production line, with a daily output of 5,000 tons, in Vientiane.

The cement production line was put into operation in February 2018, with an annual output of 2 million tons of high-grade cement, providing the cement for large-scale infrastructure construction projects like the China-Laos Railway, the Vientiane-Vangvieng Expressway, as well as a hydropower station.

In addition, Hongshi Group also donated anti-COVID-19 supplies to the local government and neighboring villages many times during the pandemic, bolstering the reputation of Chinese enterprises locally.
