From January to September, the total volumes handled by express service businesses in Yiwu – a county-level city administered by Jinhua, in East China's Zhejiang province – hit 6.54 billion packages and parcels, for year-on-year growth of 38.4 percent, according to the data released by the Yiwu post administration bureau on Oct 18.

Their combined revenue during the period came in at 16.92 billion yuan ($2.6 billion), up 24.3 percent year-on-year. The volumes handled by the city's express delivery businesses continue to rank Yiwu second in China, reportedly also maintaining a high-quality development trend.

In September alone, the city's express service companies handled 770 million packages, up 18.7 percent year-on-year. Business revenue reached 2.22 billion yuan, up 25.7 percent.

"Yiwu enjoys advantages. Thanks to the developed logistics, our company is developing steadily in Yiwu, with customers all over the country, as well as in Europe and America and many other regions," said Zhou Dongliang, a manger of a local e-commerce enterprise in Qingyanliu village – a Taobao village in Yiwu.

Seven years ago, Zhou came to Yiwu from Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province and set up his company in Qingyanliu.

These days Zhou's company has more than 300 employees and 10,000 square meters of storage.
