The 10 leading shopping centers in the city of Jinhua – located in East China's Zhejiang province – recorded 105.89 million yuan ($16.45 million) in sales during the National Day holidays on Sept 30 to Oct 5, according to data released by the city's bureau of commerce.
The aggregate number of visitors to the shopping centers hit 1.25 million, up 4.86 percent year-on-year. In particular, passenger flows and sales reached their peak on Oct 1, shooting up 26.47 percent and 4.31 percent respectively compared with the same period last year.
Among the centers, the Jinhua Wanda Plaza and the Yongsheng Shopping Center performed well, reporting combined revenue of 48.39 million yuan, up 16.07 percent year-on-year. On the first day of the festival, combined passenger flows there reached 187,800, up 41.2 percent compared with the same period last year and the aggregate sales volume hit 12.07 million yuan, up 37.6 percent.
During the break, the city's cinema box offices recorded a combined 28.55 million yuan in takings, a year-on-year increase of 37.84 percent. The city's total number of cinema tickets issued reached 615,700 during the period, up 11.83 percent on last year.
