An agreement on passengers, freight and postal transport cooperation was recently inked by Wuyi Automobile Transport Co and Wuyi ZTO Express Co in Wuyi county, Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province.
The signing ceremony marked the launch of an integrated passenger, freight and postal transport route – making it much more convenient for local transport, logistics and the postal service.
The accord is one of the county's efforts to respond to the Ministry of Transport's call for integrated development of passengers, freight and postal transport systems in rural areas this year.
Wuyi reportedly plans to ride the wave of rural road improvements and the integrated development of urban and rural transport – employing its well-developed passenger transport network linking urban and rural areas – to implement the deal and to achieve a win-win result.
An official at the Wuyi Transport Bureau said the agreement involved a trial operation period and parcels beyond the delivery company's reach will be sent to villages by passenger vehicles dispatched by Wuyi Automobile Transport Co.
The county currently has in place a passenger, freight and postal transport service station and has opened 18 routes of this kind covering 258 villages. As a result, about 1,000 parcels will be delivered to the villages every day.
The county will reportedly continue to promote cooperation between other express companies and automobile transport companies and seek new developments of rural transport services, with the goal of rural revitalization and common prosperity.
