Zhejiang Liwinon Energy Technology Co Ltd – located in Lanxi, a county level city administered by Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province – reportedly began mass production of lithium ion batteries on Aug 28.

A subsidiary of Sunwoda Electronic Co Ltd – a Shenzhen-based lithium ion battery manufacturer – when fully completed the plant in Lanxi will cover an area of 617 mu (41.1 hectares) with a total investment of 5.2 billion yuan ($802.6 million).
The construction of the Lanxi project will reportedly be carried out in two phases, the first of which covers a land area of 315 mu and a planned building area of 400,000 square meters.

The project involves an automatic and intelligent lithium ion cell production line and battery module production line, which can produce 240 million lithium ion cells and 240 million lithium ion battery modules annually. After reaching its design capacity, the annual output value will reach 10 billion yuan and over 12,000 new jobs will be created.
Sunwoda is the first listed company on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange to mainly focus on R&D, manufacturing and sales of lithium battery modules. It is understood that the production scale and market share of its smart phone battery modules ranks it number one in China.
