Jinhua city grows as a 'big garden' in central Zhejiang

The city of Jinhua, in East China's Zhejiang province, recently rolled out its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for Forestry Development, according to its natural resources and planning bureau. 

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, the city invested 3.33 billion yuan ($514 million) in afforestation – with the city's forest stock reaching 44.75 million cubic meters and the forest coverage rate stable at more than 61 percent. Jinhua and Yongkang and Dongyang count-level cities were rated as "National Forest Cities" during the period.

Under the new plan, by 2025 the forest coverage rate of the city will be more than 61.4 percent, the forest stock volume will reach 46 million cu m and the wetland reserve will cover more than 430,000 mu (28,667 hectares). In addition, the natural protected area will account for more than 10 percent of the city's area and annual total forestry output will be worth 90 billion yuan.
