The city of Jinhua – in East China's Zhejiang province – recently made moves to tighten its ties with the China-Africa Business Council, which is based in Beijing.

Jinhua mayor Xing Zhihong met with delegates of the council and pharma conglomerate Holley Group – in the Zhejiang provincial capital of Hangzhou on Aug 19, the Jinhua Daily reported.

Xing gave a brief talk on Jinhua's economic progress, especially its foreign trade development. He urged the China-Africa Business Council to invite representatives of large groups, involved in China-Africa commerce, to participate in this year's Jinhua China-Africa Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Week.

Xing also hoped the council would introduce more high-quality resources to Jinhua and explore new paths for China-Africa commerce and trade through platforms such as the Jinhua-based Jinyi Sector of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone and East China International Multimodal Transport New City.

Wang Licheng, president of the China-Africa Business Council and chairman of Holley, said the council would boost its ties with Jinhua.

He said it would make good use of policies and platforms – such as the Jinyi Sector of the Zhejiang FTZ, the Jinyi Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train service – to introduce more resources of its member enterprises.

This, he added, would jointly build a bridgehead of cooperation with Jinhua.

In addition, the delegates visited the Jinyi Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
