In the first six months the GDP of Jinhua city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – came in at 250.64 billion yuan ($38.7 billion), up 14.4 percent on the same period last year and ranking it second in the province for two consecutive quarters, according to the Statistics Bureau of Jinhua.

The contribution of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries to GDP growth was 0.7 percent, 46.5 percent and 52.8 percent, respectively.

The performance was lifted by production from the photovoltaic (solar power) industry in Yiwu – a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jinhua – and output from newly added enterprises.

The statistics showed that the output of industrial companies (manufacturers) with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more reached 52.79 billion yuan from January to June – an increase of 30 percent year-on-year and a growth rate that was 9.2 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

In the first half of the year, the city's fixed asset investment increased by 19 percent, 4.1 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking it third in the province.

The city's postal and express deliveries industry continued to maintain its momentum of rapid development. The volume of express deliveries in the period reached 5.297 billion parcels, ranking it first in China.

Meanwhile, the passenger and freight turnover from highway transportation in the first half increased by 32.6 percent, ranking third in the province. Water transport passenger and freight turnover increased by 63.3 percent, growth that ranked it second in Zhejiang.
