Jiaxing's master craftsman Jiang Wangsong: A lifetime with wood

Meet Jiang Wangsong, a 69-year-old master artisan crafting wooden furniture in Fengzhen village – nestling in Wangdian town in the Xiuzhou district of Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province.

At the age of 16, Jiang inherited his father's craft, embarking on a 53-year journey mastering the art of carpentry.

On entering his workshop, visitors are greeted by an array of wood and tools. With each deft movement, rough wood transforms into polished components under his adept hands. 

Jiang communicates with the wood, channeling the artistry of crafting vintage furniture with unparalleled finesse.

While making some furniture, Jiang fondly recalls his early days. Together with his wife, they carefully selected wood, deliberated on designs, etched patterns, and personally built the furniture for their home.

To Jiang, handmade furniture symbolizes the deep love shared within families and their dreams for a brighter tomorrow. These creations stand as cherished companions throughout the lives of their owners.

Infusing his heartfelt emotions into every creation, Jiang not only crafts furniture but also weaves blessings into each masterpiece for his patrons.
