Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, has embarked on a new journey of international friendship by signing a letter of intent for friendly exchanges with Podborany, a charming city in the Czech Republic.
The agreement was marked by a special gift from Podborany's Mayor Radek Reindl — a set of exquisitely crafted glass cups bearing the names of both cities.
The bilateral investment promotion meeting held on May 8 served as a platform for both cities to discuss economic and trade cooperation. The Czech Republic is celebrated for its automotive and glass industries, and Podborany has been pursuing industrial development since the 1990s.
Wang Jian, mayor of Tongxiang, welcomed the Czech delegation and highlighted Tongxiang's thriving bilateral investment landscape. The city has made significant investments in Europe, including a major project by Huayou Cobalt in Hungary.
The mayor of Podborany emphasized the city's industry-friendly environment, with a lithium battery factory and a number of automotive parts companies located nearby.
Tongxiang’s commitment to bilateral investment is evident in its introduction of 228 foreign investment projects and an outward investment of $9.57 billion since 2019. The Czech Republic has seen frequent exchanges with Tongxiang, which now boasts eight international friends, including cities in Canada and the United States.
