On March 17, a delegation from South Korea's Jangheung county visited Haiyan county in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province for a friendly exchange.

The relationship between Haiyan county and South Korea's Jangheung county began in 2003, focusing initially on education and later expanding into various areas of cooperation. Approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, both parties formally established a friendship and exchange agreement in March 2006.

Gu Qiuli, head of Haiyan county, warmly welcomed the Jangheung county delegation. She emphasized the deep friendship between Haiyan and South Korea, citing historical anecdotes like the residency of South Korean founding father Kim Koo at Nanbei Lake. Haiyan has continuously valued its exchanges with Jangheung county, aiming to elevate cooperation through exchanges in agriculture, culture, and tourism.

During their visit, the Jangheung county delegation explored various sites in Haiyan, experiencing the local culture and heritage. They participated in cultural activities like making chigao, a traditional pastry, and scented sachets, gaining insight into Haiyan's heritage and immersing themselves in its history and scenic beauty.

Since the initiation of exchanges, Haiyan and Jangheung have conducted over 10 friendly visits, deepening their friendship through various activities. South Korea remains one of Haiyan's key trading partners, with total import and export volume reaching nearly 834 million yuan ($115.84 million) in 2023.
