In the latest statistics released by the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Jiaxing stands out with a permanent resident population of 5.58 million by the end of 2023, marking over 40 years of consecutive growth, with an increase of 33,000 compared to the previous year.

The city's allure lies in its ability to attract talent, a crucial indicator of urban vibrancy and prospects. Jiaxing's population growth primarily stems from net population inflow, showcasing its robust appeal to external populations. Factors like its strategic location in the Yangtze River Delta and robust government support for talent policies also contribute significantly to its attractiveness.

Initiatives such as the annual Talent Day and the Yangtze River Delta Elite Summit provide platforms for talent from both domestic and international arenas.

Meanwhile, Jiaxing's commitment to building a modern industrial system, particularly in advanced manufacturing clusters, further enhances its appeal.

In 2023, Jiaxing's manufacturing investment exceeded 104.13 billion yuan ($14.46 billion), ranking second in the province and maintaining double-digit growth for three consecutive years. Key industries like high-tech manufacturing and strategic emerging sectors play a pivotal role in the city's economic landscape, attracting leading enterprises and fostering innovation.

Tang Tieqiu, vice dean of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute at Jiaxing University, believes that Jiaxing's positive development trend and strong attraction for talent will continue. He suggests that the city should encourage inter-provincial migration, relax household registration policies, and refine talent attraction policies to draw in high-skilled working-age populations, thereby supporting Jiaxing's high-quality development.
