Jiaxing Port had a particularly successful start to the year, breaking historical records in January. It handled 13.09 million metric tons of cargo for the month, an increase of 58.48 percent year-on-year, including 1.44 million tons of foreign trade cargo, up 28.27 percent. It also handled 272,800 TEUs of containers, up 38.48 percent, ranking second in both throughput and growth rate among the coastal ports in Zhejiang province.

The peak shipping period leading up to the Spring Festival boosted Jiaxing Port's performance. Container enterprises improved their market development and operation capacity, ensuring the fast growth of container throughput.

Jiaxing Port also strengthened its full logistics chain support for foreign trade exports, handling 44,600 TEUs of foreign trade containers, up 22.08 percent from last year.

Moreover, Jiaxing Port expanded its whole-process logistics service with the port as the hub. It opened up a sea-river intermodal transport channel, improved inland river operation capacity, and has built a more efficient, lower-cost and more functional multimodal transport logistics system.

In January, Jiaxing Port handled 3.05 million tons of cargo via sea-river intermodal transportation, a surge of 80.33 percent year-on-year, and 76,800 TEUs of containers via this mode, up 57.82 percent year-on-year.
