Wuzhen dazzles with giant dragon lantern
On the twenty-third day of the twelfth lunar month, known as Xiaonian, or Little New Year, the Night Lantern Festival kicked off in the Wuzhen Scenic Area of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province.
This year, the Wuzhen Scenic Area carried on the tradition by hosting the Wuzhen Night Lantern Festival, with four major lantern festival venues.
The lantern festival features 10 large lantern installations and over 40 different lantern varieties, adorning streets and water surfaces in Wuzhen.
The zodiac-themed dragon lantern steals the spotlight at the festival. In the Dragon-shaped Field of the Wuzhen Scenic Area, a 40-meter-long golden dragon lantern coils elegantly, illuminated by glowing lanterns.
At the ancient Zhaoming Academy, visitors are treated to an immersive literary gathering with the Zhaoming Lantern Festival. The festival restores the ancient painted lanterns, with various lanterns of fish, birds, animals and flowers.
With the lights on, Wuzhen's Spring Festival series of activities also began. From Feb 2 to Feb 25, various activities will allow visitors to experience the infinite charm of the water town's Spring Festival.
