On Feb 1, the 2024 Spring Festival market opened at the Chongfu Hengjie Historical and Cultural Block in Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province.
The market offers a plethora of activities, including traditional markets, calligraphy, opera performances, handicrafts, and trying local delicacies.
Among the attractions were stalls featuring people pounding traditional rice cakes and preparing "luo cuo ci", a sticky rice snack. Skilled artisans demonstrated age-old techniques, pounding steamed rice into cakes and evenly spreading glutinous rice in pots to create crispy delicacies.
New Year's calligraphy and family photo shoots were also popular. Residents participated enthusiastically, with children marveling at the calligraphy and families capturing cherished moments together.
The festivities at Hengjie will continue until Feb 24, culminating in a Lantern Festival on Feb 22.
