Jiaxing Customs issued more than 127,000 certificates of origin worth 44.99 billion yuan ($6.27 billion) in 2023, including 15,600 certificates of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, which helped enterprises in the area reduce tariffs by about 50.1 million yuan for their exported goods.

2023 marked the second year of the implementation of the RCEP, which is the largest free trade agreement in terms of population and economic scale today, offering tariff concessions and other benefits to import and export enterprises.

Wankai New Materials Co Ltd in Haining, Jiaxing, is a leading polyester materials producer in China. Its polyester chips are exported to 12 RCEP member countries.

"The company's RCEP visa amount exceeded $30 million, helping the company reduce tariffs by $1.53 million," stated Zhang Jing, the customs manager of Wankai. She added that the customs' training helped the company understand the benefit situation of its products in RCEP member countries.

Jiaxing Customs has also promoted the RCEP policy to more foreign trade enterprises, and extended self-printing customs certificates of origin services to local administrative and bank outlets.
