Jiaxing sees thriving fruit trade
The Haiguangxing Fruit Trading Center in the Jiaxing fruit market was recently buzzing with activity due to its abundance of jackfruit.
Jackfruit has gained immense popularity of late, particularly during the winter season. Substantial quantities of delectable and high-quality jackfruit are transported from Vietnam to Jiaxing and then distributed to various regions across China.
Ying Jianjun, assistant general manager of the Jiaxing fruit market, said that the fruits imported from Vietnam predominantly include dragon fruit, jackfruit, and durian.
Since 2016, Zhejiang Jialai Import and Export Trade Co Ltd, located at the Haiguangxing Fruit Trading Center, specializes in the trade of red-fleshed jackfruit from Vietnam. Zhou Lijuan, the company's spokesperson, said, "Red-fleshed jackfruit is not only economical and delicious but also more affordable than many domestically produced fruits. It naturally ripens and is beloved by people of all ages. On average, we import and sell approximately 150 to 160 containers daily."
Recent data reveals that Haiguangxing's transactions involving Vietnamese fruits have reached an impressive 16,200 containers valued at 63.04 billion yuan ($883.81 million).
