Jiaxing Port sees booming cargo throughput

The cargo throughput of Jiaxing Port reached 129 million metric tons from January to November, up 6.1 percent year-on-year, while the port's container throughput experienced an increase of 19.75 percent year-on-year to 3.11 million TEUs, setting a new record.
The total foreign trade throughput at the port increased by 16.23 percent year-on-year to 150.19 tons, the highest growth rate in Zhejiang province.
The port's near-sea shipping lines, especially the Japan route, also developed steadily, attracting more enterprises from surrounding areas. From January to November, the Japan shipping line’s container throughput surged 47.3 percent year-on-year, reaching 100,200 TEUs.
Jiaxing Port also leveraged its unique advantages in sea-river intermodal transport and completed a sea-river intermodal container throughput of 895,200 TEUs, an increase of 25.93 percent year-on-year.
Jiaxing Port has continued to increase its efforts in the construction of shipping lines. It has opened the province's first batch of 64-TEU inland waterway container routes, introduced seven new shipping lines, and increased the number of sea-river intermodal container routes to 29.
Jiaxing currently has about 160 container ships with a capacity of 64 TEUs or more, and the total transport capacity of sea-river intermodal ships docking at Jiaxing Port has exceeded 6,000 TEUs.
