Zhejiang Zhongche Shangchi Electric Co Ltd in Haining, a county-level city of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province, has played a key role in providing green travel solutions for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

It received an order in May from Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group to supply drive motors to 1,180 pure electric buses, which will be used for Hangzhou public transportation during the Games. The first batch of 790 buses were delivered in early August, and the second batch of 390 will be delivered this month.

The company developed a long-term cooperative relationship with Geely six years ago.

This time, for the Hangzhou Asian Games public transport operation, the two sides developed a low-energy consumption electric drive system, which increased the buses’ energy utilization rate by 16 percent and extended the cruising range to more than 300 kilometers, meeting the high demand for green travel during peak periods.

The company also provided drive motors for 2,200 new energy buses that operated at the Chengdu FISU World University Games last month.

Liu Han, deputy director of marketing at the company, said that they have prepared sufficient spare parts to ensure the smooth operation of vehicles during the Asian Games.
