A total of 511 companies from Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, will attend the 133rd Canton Fair, which will be held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province from April 15 to May 5.

As a pivotal annual event in China's foreign trade sector, the exhibition area of the Canton Fair has expanded from 1.18 million square meters to 1.5 million square meters, and the number of booths has increased from 60,000 to 70,000.

Jiaxing's most competitive industries, such as hardware machinery, auto parts, new energy, new materials, household goods, textiles and clothing will be promoted at this year's Canton Fair. Companies hope to use the platform to obtain more orders and expand into new markets.

Jiaxing Mengdi Import & Export Co Ltd, which is involved in sweaters, knitting, woven clothing and fabrics, started preparing for the exhibition more than a month in advance.

The company invited more than 40 customers to meet in advance, either in-person or by phone, e-mail or Linkedin. More than 150 new products have been specially developed by the company's design team for the exhibition.

The Canton Fair is expected to increase the influence of Jiaxing manufactured products, said Ju Huihua, director of the foreign trade department of the Jiaxing commerce bureau.

In addition, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will take effect in the Philippines in July. Jiaxing will continue to seize upon opportunities brought about by the RCEP and develop cross-border e-commerce, added Ju.
