The container throughput of Jiaxing Inland Port in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province saw a rise of 40.9 percent year-on-year from the first half of this year, reaching 245,400 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), local media reported on July 11.

The monthly container throughput in March, April, May and June was 38,000 TEUs, 43,700 TEUs, 45,000 TEUs and 51,600 TEUs, respectively, setting records in each of the past four months.

The market recovered in March, during which the cargo throughput of Jiaxing exceeded 9.81 million metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent, and the container throughput of Inland Port was 38,000 TEUs, up 29.50 percent year-on-year, according to an official of the Jiaxing port and shipping management service center.

The epidemic has seriously impacted highway transportation, while water transportation, especially inland container transportation, has not been affected, resulting in the rapid growth of the container throughput of Jiaxing Inland Port.
