A tiger-theme exhibition is being held at Jiaxing Museum in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province from Jan 13 to April 10 to welcome the coming Chinese Year of the Tiger.
The exhibition features 60 collections that showcase the symbolism of tigers in Chinese culture.
As a symbol of justice, bravery and dignity, tigers have been worshipped by the Han ethnic people for thousands of years. In the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220), tigers began to be regarded as the guardian angel for laborers.
Ethnic groups in China, such as Yi, Bai, Bouyei and Tujia, even claim tigers to be their ancestors.
