Jiaxing native elected as CAS academician

Qian Depei, a professor at Beihang University and also a Jiaxing native, has been elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, according to CAS' notice on newly elected members on Nov 18.
Qian has been dedicated to the research of computer system architecture and high-performance computing systems. To date, he has published more than 400 theses and obtained 30 invention patents.
His research has lead to nine science and technology awards at the provincial and above levels, including the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology.
Two newly elected members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering will work in Jiaxing.

Gao Xiang will take up the post of head of the Jiaxing Institute of Zhejiang University and Xu Zhenghe will work for the institute of Southern University of Science and Technology in the city.
With a doctoral degree in engineering, Gao has formulated and participated in the formulation of more than 70 national and industrial standards, published more than 260 theses, as well as obtained 67 invention patents, including seven international patents.

Being a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences and the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Xu has published more than 510 influential articles in SCI's core journals, as well as obtained 21 domestic and international invention patents.
