The 2021 Traditional Chinese Culture Carnival kicked off at the international campus of Zhejiang University in Haining, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 13.
The cultural festival began with a lion dance, followed by folk song, Yue opera, and dance performances.

After the performances, students and teachers at the campus were invited to learn how to make Xiashi colored lanterns and leather clip art, two intangible cultural heritage items in Haining, from local inheritors.
"It is the first time that I've seen such an exquisite lantern in my life," said a Brazilian student after finishing his lantern. "I've shared my work with my parents via social media."

Many participants made some innovations in creating the leather clip art and produced many unique works.
"It is the third edition of the Traditional Chinese Culture Carnival held by the international campus of ZJU and the Haining Culture Center," said a staff member from the Haining Culture Center. "We expect that the event will enhance our relations with universities, as well as popularize Haining's special folk culture and intangible cultural heritage items with more domestic and overseas students."
