Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province held a promotion conference for its investment environment and international cooperation on Oct 29.

The event was attended by more than 80 representatives from foreign chambers of commerce in China, foreign-invested companies, foreign-invested financial institutions, association for friendship with foreign countries, and investment promotion agencies.

Peng Yong, head of one of the sponsors, China Economic Cooperation Center, spoke about the significance of the event in Jiaxing and the CECC's role in helping foreign companies invest in China.

Peng Bo, deputy director of the foreign affairs office of Zhejiang Provincial Government, noted that the conference is an important measure by the central government to support local economic development.

He added that to hold the conference in Jiaxing is to showcase the remarkable achievements made by the city and Zhejiang in terms of economic, cultural, social and ecological development.

Representatives from the Beijing office of Japan-China Economic Association, Air Liquide (China) Holding Co Ltd, Obermeyer Engineering Consulting (Beijing) Co Ltd, and ISU - Independent Salumi Union talked about the achievements made by China after its reform and opening-up in 1980s.

They also expressed their expectations for more efficient services from the local government in terms of investment.

During their stay in Jiaxing, these participants also visited the Majiabang Healthy Food Town and Jiaxing Intelligent Equipment Industrial Park in Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
