The city lounge on Zhongshan Road in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province recently won another international award – Best Arts & Culture Building Project at the 19th edition of the Leading European Architects Forum Awards, also known as LEAF Awards, local media reported on Oct 25.
In July, the city lounge won the A+Awards, given by the United States' Architizer website for the best architecture and product designs around the world in the year.

Designed by the Design Institute of Landscape and Architecture China Academy of Art Co Ltd, the city lounge consists of a set of buildings and three courtyards.
"We want the city to have an architectural building that can stand the test of time," said a designer from the institute. "The building features a triangular structure, which not only implies zongzi, Jiaxing's famous specialty, but also will become more solid as time passes."
On top of the roof, the city lounge is also built with a rest platform where local residents can sit on the roof while admiring views of the bustling Zhongshan Road and the city lounge's serene courtyard below.

The awarded city lounge is a result of Jiaxing's "toilet revolution", which requires innovative improvements on traditional public toilets in terms of appearance, function, and service. Over the past three years, Jiaxing has renovated 121 public toilets and 20 city lounges.
The LEAF Awards has been running for 20 years and all shortlisted entries and winning projects are known for their contribution to the international architectural design industry.
