Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province organized a promotion conference in Shanghai on Oct 22 to attract more investment.
Jiaxing Municipal Government inked cooperation agreements with the Bank Of China’s Zhejiang branch, the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission at the conference.
Cooperation agreements on 100 projects involving tourism, finance, medical care, and education were also signed on the same day.
The commercial intercourse between Jiaxing and Shanghai dates back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, and nowadays, Jiaxing prioritizes its integration into Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta.
Jiaxing's growth as a driver of YRD integration cannot do without the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District.
In 2018, Jiaxing launched the first round of cooperation on international trade, tourism, talent services, and innovation with Hongqiao CBD, and last month, the two places signed a strategic cooperation agreement, stating that Jiaxing will participate in Hongqiao CBD's construction of an international hub.
The city has also taken measures to attract scientific and innovative resources in Shanghai and currently houses more than 370 innovation platforms.
Jiaxing has been experiencing prosperous development. Last year, its GDP totaled 551 billion yuan ($86.26 billion) with its per capita GDP ranking 15th in the country and its general financial revenue amounted to 100.3 billion yuan, ranking the city 20th nationally.
The per capita income of urban and rural residents in the city reached 64,100 yuan and 39,800 yuan respectively with smallest urban-rural income gap in Zhejiang.
