Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province received more than 1.37 million tourists and generated 1 billion yuan ($155.07 million) in tourism revenue during the seven-day National Day holiday.

The two figures represented 3 percent and 7.85 percent year-on-year increases respectively.

The Nanhu Lake scenic area, which houses the Red Boat where the first national congress of the Communist Party of China was convened 100 years ago, saw 224,900 domestic trips with a revenue of 1.09 million yuan.

The "Nanhu Lake 1921" train, which is the first red tourism train in the Yangtze River Delta and connects red tourism spots in both Jiaxing and Shanghai, received more than 1,000 tourists per day.

In addition to Nanhu Lake, Wuzhen and Xitang, ancient towns were still the favored destinations of tourists in Jiaxing. Statistics from the Zhejiang tourism statistics system show that the three scenic areas received 688,700 tourists and generated 36.87 million yuan in revenue.

More local residents preferred rural zones over urban areas this holiday. Statistics show that all 62 3A-level scenic villages in Jiaxing entertained 278,500 tourists.

Jiaxing also organized 1,334 cultural events revolving around National Day which attracted 310,200 participants.
