Jiaxing solicits sculpture works worldwide

The First "Red Boat Spirit" Sculpture Competition was launched by the Jiaxing municipal government and the China Academy of Art on Sept 28 soliciting sculpture works for the city worldwide.
The submitted works should reflect the contributions made by the city in the the development of China and in the country's anti-imperialism efforts, Jiaxing's red culture, such as the "Red Boat Spirit", as well its geographical features, such as it being a water town.
The design is required to be innovative and suitable in promoting Jiaxing internationally.
Interested people can send the electronic version of their design, including three colorful pictures or effect pictures in different views, as well as the registration form to sculpture@caapai.com before Nov 2.
A total of 35 winners will be selected, with a combined award of 950,000 yuan ($147,000).
Jiaxing is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China and the "Red Boat Spirit", which is considered the origin of China's revolutionary spirit. In 1921, the first CPC National Congress was held on a boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, signifying the start of the CPC.
With a history of more than 7,000 years, Jiaxing was also the cradle of the Majiabang Culture of the Neolithic Age.
