A delegation comprising members of World Bank Group Water Global Practice and officials from Punjab, Pakistan, visited Tiantai county, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, from Dec 9 to 11 to inspect its rural integrated water supply and drainage project.
Five years ago, the Pakistani representatives visited Tiantai to learn about rural sewage management and established Pakistan's first provincial-level water supply and drainage facility operation company inspired by Tiantai's model. The second visit aimed to show them Tiantai's advanced management of rural domestic wastewater.
Since 2020, Tiantai has been upgrading all rural sewage facilities. By employing graded operations and customized measures in different villages, it has enhanced efficiency while reducing costs.
Tiantai has also embraced smart technologies for precise management and standardized rural sewage terminals. The upgraded drainage platform enables real-time monitoring and control of wastewater treatment.
The visit gave the delegation a comprehensive understanding of the facilities' performance, operational processes, and community engagement in the water supply and sewage treatment initiatives of rural areas.
They praised the county's efforts and expressed confidence in replicating Tiantai's success in maintaining rural sewage treatment facilities in Pakistan.
