The Zhejiang Paper Arts Exhibition was recently held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, showcasing 145 intricate works of paper art, including six from Taizhou.

One of the exhibits was crafted by Zhang Weiping from Xianju county, who has been dedicated to making works inspired by his hometown for over 10 years. This traditional paper-cut work depicts 29 farmers transporting, sorting, and purchasing waxberries, serving as a celebration of labor.

Another notable piece is Shen Yang's Olympic Shooting Champion Huang Yuting, which shows Huang Yuting, an athlete from Huangyan district, as she prepares to open fire at the Paris Olympics.

This piece as a whole utilizes the rich layers and colors of printmaking, while the details are crafted with traditional paper-cutting techniques, blending modern art with traditional culture.

A series of ancient Taizhou paper lanterns, particularly the Xianju boneless lanterns, were also showcased at the exhibition. Skilled artisans from Xianju, represented by Wu Qiaohong and Yu Yuehua, transformed the traditional lanterns into decorations, breathing new life into the ancient art form.
