The Xianju Biodiversity Museum opened on May 22, coinciding with the 24th International Day for Biological Diversity.
The museum serves as an integral part of a flagship project for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Taizhou's Xianju county, which is funded by the French Development Agency. Initiated in January 2019, the museum's construction concluded in August 2021, with trial operations commencing in May 2022.
The museum, situated by Ruyi Lake within the Shenxianju Tourist Resort in Baita town, has an expansive exhibition area of approximately 3,000 square meters, showcasing a diverse collection of over 600 specimens, including animal, mineral, and plant exhibits that reflect the rich biodiversity of Xianju.
French ambassador to China Bertrand Lortholary underscored the significance of biodiversity conservation, emphasizing its universal importance across the borders, governments, and societies of both China and France. He expressed satisfaction in witnessing the fruitful collaboration between the Regional Natural Park of the Northern Vosges in France and Xianju, affirming continued support for biodiversity conservation endeavors in China.
