A large quantity of white-leg shrimp was shipped away from Sanmen county in Taizhou, Zhejiang province on April 29. This was the first batch of shrimps cultivated by the Ouxun digital shrimp farm to come onto the market.

Li Laiguo, the founder of the shrimp farm, couldn't hide his joy as orders poured in. "Our customers from Fenghua and Ninghai in Ningbo, Zhejiang just left with 1,000 kilograms of shrimp and they're already planning to return for more tomorrow."

White-leg shrimp, also known as Pacific white shrimp, belongs to the species Litopenaeus vannamei. Its peak season usually falls in July and August. However, the high-tech shrimp farm has eliminated this limit, ensuring a steady supply all year round.

Li estimated that his 19-mu (1.27 hectares) experimental pond could achieve an output value of 10 million yuan ($1.38 million) this year. "After operations become stable, I plan to expand to 108 mu," added Li.

Hailing from Shandong province, Li's determination to cultivate shrimp in Sanmen was not only driven by the county's ideal conditions for cultivation but also its favorable business environment.

"In addition to policy support and project attraction, local governments also transferred 340 mu of land to us for scientific research and production, providing a broader development space for our team," said Li.
