In Taizhou, Zhejiang province, a type of rice planting known as "lazy planting" has taken hold recently.

At the Xincai Farming Service Center in Wenling, Taizhou, workers employ sowing machines to plant rice seeds, with a daily capacity of 6,000 seedling trays, enough for 10 hectares of early rice.

In the past, the seedling trays need to be manually moved to the temperature-controlled seedling shelter one by one, leading to low efficiency. "Now with the conveyor line, we can easily move several hundred trays at a time," said Jiang Xincai, head of the center.

After nurturing for 20 to 30 days, the early rice seedlings can be transplanted to fields using a high-speed transplanter. With four such machines, over 6 hectares can be transplanted in a day.

Jiang added, "Before the application of the machine, we could only complete around 67 hectares from early April to early May. Now we can achieve more than 200 hectares in the same time."

This year, more than 106 hectares of early rice in his center were planted using machines. Starting from April 12, drones were also applied in the planting of more than 66 hectares.

"The whole process of mechanized farming can replace 80 percent of manual labor," emphasized Jiang, who owns over 30 agricultural machines at present.
