Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province was recently ranked 35th on the 2022 list of the top 50 Chinese cities with high-quality development in the manufacturing industry, according to a report.

The report was made by the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The academy evaluated the advanced manufacturing sector of 293 prefecture-level cities nationwide from the perspectives of scale and development speed, innovative development, green development and integrated development.

"This is an all-round review of the overall strength of the manufacturing industries of different cities, and Taizhou's relatively high ranking indicates that its manufacturing industry is resilient and dynamic," said a head official at the Taizhou municipal bureau of economy and information technology.

In 2022, industrial enterprises above designated size in Taizhou generated nearly 153.87 billion yuan ($22.3 billion) in added value, official statistics show.

Robust growth was seen in the added value of health product manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing and strategic emerging industries, which grew by 15.8 percent, 13.2 percent and 11.2 percent from a year earlier.

A national manufacturing hub, Taizhou currently has 21 industry clusters with an annual output value of 10 billion yuan. The city is home to 68 national industrial bases that have the largest shares in their niche markets at home and abroad.

The city has been focused on developing sectors such as automobiles, biomedicine, as well as pumps and motors, while blazing new trails in emerging industries like aerospace, new materials, and new energy.
