Geely, one of the largest carmakers in China, will build a plug-in hybrid car factory in Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, local media reported.

The new energy car project will inject new vitality to the automobile industry in the city.

With an annual capacity of 300,000 fuel cell cars, Linhai is one of the three largest car manufacturing bases for Geely.

Experts predict that the new project's establishment will increase the output value of Geely's auto industrial park in Linhai to 30 billion yuan ($4.62 billion) this year.

Geely already has a big business presence in Taizhou, where the company was founded.

Apart from several car factories, the company had also built a satellite production base in the city in 2020. In September 2021, the first satellite produced by the Geely-funded factory in Taizhou rolled off the line.
