Tingpang Uprising Museum, previously named Tingshan Elementary School, is located in Yangjia Village, 4 kilometers north to the Sanmen County. Peasants in Tingpang established the first Soviet regime in Zhejiang province in 1928. Set up during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1688-1911), the museum consists of two two-tiered timber and brick buildings with eleven rooms, covering an area of over 2,000 square meters. The exhibition hall' s area covers more than 250 square meters. 

In 1981, it was recognized as a county- level cultural relic. Tingpang Uprising Memorial was set up in 1988. In April 1993, Tingpang Uprising Museum was built on the site of Tingshan Elementary School with the support of the local government. In 1995, it was named Taizhou Patriotism Education Base and Zhejiang Patriotism Education Base in 1996. In 1997, it was recognized by the Zhejiang provincial government as a provincial cultural relic.

It was renovated and rearranged to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The museum has received over 190,000 visitors over the past couple of decades since its opening to the public.
