Quzhou's foreign trade sees significant growth with strategic initiatives

In the first quarter of 2025, Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province achieved a total import and export value of 18.48 billion yuan ($2.53 billion), reflecting a 16.2 percent year-on-year increase, according to Quzhou Customs.

Exports rose to 11.83 billion yuan, up 3.3 percent, while imports soared by 49.6 percent to 6.65 billion yuan, ranking first in import growth and third in overall foreign trade growth in the province.

Zhejiang Lianneng Electric based in Quzhou is fulfilling a significant order worth over 15 million yuan from Africa, highlighting the company's focus on strengthening its presence in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Similarly, Zhejiang SMiLE Tools has adjusted its market strategy to cater to new consumer demographics, especially those from Belt and Road Initiative countries.

The first phase of the 137th Canton Fair 2025 Spring concluded with Quzhou enterprises reporting a 5 percent increase in intended transaction value, amounting to $15.26 million.

Quzhou has established business chambers in six countries, with more in progress, to support local enterprises in expanding their global reach.

Additionally, Quzhou Customs has launched a customs assistance platform to offer comprehensive services to local enterprises, enhancing the business environment.

The city's foreign trade growth is driven by robust exports of labor-intensive products and basic organic chemicals, as well as increased trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership members and Belt and Road Initiative countries, highlighting Quzhou's economic resilience and vitality.
