Wu wins 100m hurdles at national championships

Wu Yanni, fresh from her Paris Olympics appearance, claimed victory in the women's 100m hurdles at the Chinese National Athletics Championships in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Sept 16.

Representing Sichuan, Wu crossed the finish line in 13.05 seconds, securing a comfortable win over runner-up Chen Yinfeng, who clocked in at 13.39 seconds.

In her first race since the Olympics, Wu praised Quzhou's electric atmosphere. "The energy was fantastic," she said, adding that she returned to the starting line after her race to thank the supportive crowd.

Initially capturing the public's attention with her photogenic looks and sparkling personality, Wu has backed up her celebrity appeal with her ability on the track. Having won the women's 100m hurdles title at the 2023 Chinese National Athletics Championships, she later claimed silver at the Chengdu World University Games with a personal best of 12.76 seconds to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
