Olympic champion visits Quzhou No 2 High School
Olympic badminton champion Huang Yaqiong, a native of Quzhou, Zhejiang province, visited Quzhou No 2 High School for a badminton match with the school's students on Aug 20.
Huang's swift movements and precise shots impressed everyone as the shuttlecock soared gracefully over the net.
The students gave it their all in the match, while their peers cheered from the sidelines.
The excitement reached its peak as students lined up to get Huang's autograph.
Huang and doubles partner Zheng Siwei claimed the badminton mixed doubles gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Aug 2.
Roared on by an enthusiastic crowd, the Chinese duo demolished South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun, 21-8, 21-11, to win their first Olympic title together, making up for their loss in the final at the Tokyo Games three years ago.
After the medal ceremony, China's men's doubles player Liu Yuchen, who has been dating Huang for years, showed up at the athletes' exit, to the surprise of Huang, and amid thunderous cheers, fell to one knee and proposed with a shining ring. The moment was captured by photographers from around the world.
