Quzhou's transportation bureau announced on Aug 14 that Quzhou Port achieved a cargo throughput of 4.31 million metric tons, marking a 14.9 percent year-on-year increase. Container throughput saw a surge of 136.5 percent, the highest growth rate in Zhejiang province.
Over the past three years, Quzhou has invested 11 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) in its water transport sector. Policies have been introduced to streamline administrative processes related to port operations, shoreline usage, and waterway transport, helping businesses reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.
The range of goods passing through Quzhou Port has diversified significantly, expanding from coal and gravel to include industrial salt, pulp, grain, steel plates, and more than 30 other categories. The port's reach now extends to neighboring provinces such as Jiangxi and Anhui.
