Quzhou recently unveiled its "Implementation Plan for the Inheritance and Development of Historic Industries," setting a goal to expand the city's "historic industries" to a scale of 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) by 2027.

The plan outlines seven key areas with 20 specific tasks, including strengthening the supply chain, promoting sustainable resource development, enhancing raw material bases, and driving innovation. This involves protecting traditional craftsmanship, accelerating technological advancements, upgrading products, and integrating digital technologies.

The plan emphasizes the dual focus on cultural heritage preservation and industry enhancement, aiming to develop Quzhou's historic industries with a focus on quality, digital transformation, sustainability, and brand recognition.

Quzhou will prioritize expanding larger industries like tea and traditional Chinese medicine, while also supporting distinctive crafts such as root carving, wood carving, stone carving, scholarly tools, and celadon pottery.

The plan encourages integrating traditional culture with contemporary aesthetics and trends. The goal is to foster digital product design, enhance collaborative innovation, and elevate Quzhou's historic industries.
