The 8th China West Lake International Magic Convention opened in Quzhou, Zhejiang, on Aug 7.

This biennial event, a major gathering for the international magic community, has previously been held seven times in Hangzhou. This year marks the first time the convention has moved to Quzhou.

The opening ceremony featured performances by six renowned magicians from the United States, France, South Korea, Venezuela, and Spain.

Andrea Baioni, president of the International Federation of Magic Societies, emphasized that magic is more than entertainment — it's an art form that honors tradition while embracing innovation.

The four-day convention will highlight a close-up magic performance at the closing ceremony. Magicians will also take their art to the streets of Quzhou, greeting locals and tourists.
